Year 12

This year 12 Performing Arts group will be starting unit 20 of the BTEC syllabus. This unit is 'Applying Acting Styles'.

Within this unit students will develop and begin to understand the variations within acting technique.They will study atleast two different practitioners and apply characterisation and acting style to at least one piece of text. There will also be an element of devising theatre mid way through the course.

Unit outline; "Learners should take part in a series of practical workshops. They should rehearse and give at least two performances before an invited audience, to last at least 10minutes each".

Learning Outcomes;
  • Be able to develop characterisation as an actor.
  • Be able to develop and rehearse material using different acting styles.
  • Be able to perform as an actor using different acting styles.

Should you wish to do some forward study the two heatrical practioners that will be applied throughout this course are; Konstantin Stanislavski (naturalistic/Lifelike) and Bertolt Brecht (Surrealist/Politic).
